Shinsaago. Grade 2. Chapter 2.

The Great Pyramid quiz.
Nearly four thousand six hundred years ago, King Khufu ruled Egypt.
He had a cousin.
His name was Hemon.
Hemon built Khufu's pyramid.
Here is Khufu with Hemon.
Hemon: King Khufu and I want to test you.
We have six questions about the Great Pyramid.
Question 1: Where did we build the Great Pyramid, on the west or on the east bank of the Nile River?
Question 2: How long did it take to build the Great Pyramid, ten or twenty years?
Question 3: What size is the Great Pyramid? How high is it, 70 or 140 meters?
Question 4: What kind of people built the Great Pyramid, slaves or farmers?
Question 5: Which two things did the pyramid workers need, showers, cool clothes, or eye make-up?
Question 6: We built three smaller pyramids next to the Great Pyramid.
 Whose pyramids are they?
Are they for Khufu's cats, his sons, or his wives?
Hemon: King Khufu, do you have the answers?
King Khufu: Yes, here they are.
Pyramids were always on the west bank of the river because the sun sets in the west.
It took about twenty years to build the Great Pyramid.
The Great Pyramid is the largest pyramid in Egypt.
It has a square base.
Each side of the square is now 227 meters long.
It is about 137 meters high.
Most pyramid workers were farmers.
Farmers had a lot of free time when the Nile covered their fields with water.
Pyramid workers needed cool clothes and eye make-up.
Cool clothes protected their skin from the sun.
 Eye make-up protected their eyes.
They did not need showers because they washed in the Nile.
The three small pyramids are for Khufu's wives.
